Adventure through the enchanting Land of Eagles

From north to south, east to west – join the ultimate adventure through one of Europe’s most intriguing and misunderstood countries: Albania.

Eight nights and nine days will be filled with UNESCO World Heritage Sites, ancient and modern history, quirky culture, an abandoned military island, some of the best beaches on the Mediterranean and a good understanding as to why Albania was once considered the North Korea of Europe. We will be breaking all kinds of stereotypes that might exist in your mind about Albania being “dangerous” and chances are high that you may fall in love with this incredible country in the process. Believe us when we say you will not find a more immersive and unique introduction to Albania quite like this one.

What is included in the price?

  • All ground/water transportation for the duration of the trip. You’ll just need to get yourself to and from Tirana, and then we’ll take care of the rest including airport/bus station transfer upon arrival.
  • Accommodation for all eight nights of the trip. From historical hotels to cozy B&Bs, you can be sure that all properties we stay at will be comfortable and convenient.
  • Two meals a day. Breakfast every day and either a group lunch or dinner. Other snacks and meals during free time will be at your own cost.
  • Entrance fees to all sites we plan to visit as a group and listed on the final extended itinerary – museums, historical sites, castles, etc.
  • Local guides and tour host for duration of trip

What is not included in the price?

  • As mentioned before, getting from wherever you may be coming from to Tirana is a given and then back again though you are free to depart from wherever you’d like. We’ll do our best to help you figure out how to do so and source the cheapest flights using our favorite booking engines.
  • Travel insurance is not included and is mandatory. Your credit card provider might offer some kind of insurance to you automatically, but if not or if you feel they don’t provide enough coverage, you should go with another company specifically specializing in it like WorldNomads.
  • Extra alcoholic beverages. We’re happy to cover your first drink when out for a group meal, but if you order anything else you’ll have to pick up your own bar tab.
  • Souvenirs and personal purchases are entirely left to you. There will be plenty of opportunities to purchase some so bring as much as you think you’d like to spend.
  • Tips for guides and drivers. If you love the experience with any of our local guides or drivers/captains, tips are always appreciated by them though not mandatory.
  • Any additional fees such as Paypal fees, bank transfer fees, airline charges, taxis, baggage allowance, and international credit card fees will not be covered.

Is Albania safe to travel in?

Absolutely safe, it not one of the safer places in Europe. Student and government protests have been ongoing, but in general will not affect your visit as a tourist so long as you stay away from them or any other rallies. Of course all segments of the tour will be subject to change if deemed a safety risk at the time of travel.

Will I be free to explore on my own?

There will be designated “free time” here and there, but you are welcome to leave the group any time you’d like. The only thing we ask is that you bear in mind that at times we are on a strict schedule in order to fit all of the stops in so you will need to be punctual for every departure.

What level of physical activity will be involved?

Mild to moderate. While we are exploring some of the castles and off-the-path historical sights there may be some mild hiking/upward walking involved, but nothing very extreme and all activities are optional should you decide not to participate.

Where will I be sleeping?

Some nights we will put you up in a memorable hotel (definitely nothing belonging to a chain), while others could be in a quaint bed & breakfast depending on our location. Rest assured that wherever you end up it will be comfortable, and while we will be booking mostly double and twin rooms, please let us know if you’d like an upgrade (for an additional cost) and we will do our best to accommodate you. If you are joining the group solo, you may be paired up with another solo traveler unless you specify that you’d like to have a room all to yourself. If that is the case, you will need to make a note of this when booking and pay an additional $200 single supplement..

What if I arrive late or leave early?

We’ll do our best to accommodate late arrivals, though it would be in your best interest to arrive no later than Friday evening since all day Saturday is reserved for exploring Tirana. Should you run into an unexpected flight delay, don’t worry. While we will be sticking to the schedule of the tour and so long as it isn’t too huge of a delay (like days), we will do our best to make sure you meet up with us as quickly as possible once you finally land. For early departures, we will miss you, but you are free to leave at any time.
